    Bike to Work Day is a great way to support the Boulder Biking Community and to do something good for the environment and yourself!

    Competition a Success!

    What an awesome event! We had 150 competitors and a total of close to 600 people join us this past weekend for USA Climbing’s SCS Divisional Championship.

    AND all 4 of our very own Team Sik Bird competitors that participated placed high enough to receive invitations to the National Championships in Atlanta next month! GO TEAM!

    SCS Youth Divisional Championship

    All the excitement for the SCS Division 2 Championship is just a few days away! This weekend, the top 150 youth climbers from our division will compete for an invitation to the SCS National Championship in July. Click here for the FULL SCHEDULE including stacking.

    We Need Volunteers!!

    If you are interested in helping us out with this event, we still need volunteers to help us out with things like belaying, judging, isolation, and more. If you are interested, please email or call today to sign up!

    What this means for Movement members and guests:
    Wednesday, June 9th — Setting begins on the left side of the Gray Wall and will be closed to public use.
    Thursday, June 10th — Setting begins on the rest of the Gray Wall and Speed wall and both will be closed to public use.  The rest of the brown walls will be open through Friday for normal business.

    **The gym will be closed on Saturday, June 12th and Sunday, June 13th but we encourage you to come watch or volunteer.**

    All climbing and normal class schedules will resume on Monday, June 14th.

    We hope that you share in our excitement about hosting this event and will be able to attend. If you have never participated in a event like this, it is a fun,high energy competition that is great to be a part of.

    FREE RAMP DEMO DAY THIS SATURDAY!  Our Reaching Athletes’ Maximum Potential program, specifically for youth, is launching and we want YOU to know what it’s all about!
    Anyone ages 6 – 18 who is interested may participate this Saturday at no charge!

    Advanced Youth Fitness–smart, focused and conscientious training for young athletes.

    R.A.M.P. is a multi-faceted  program that will equip your young athlete (or soon-to-be athlete) with the best possible techniques, skills and movements to propel their sporting activities to the next level while arming them with the tools to prevent injury-all with a fun yet straight forward approach.

    On Saturday, June 5th, come and participate in a hands on demonstration of our R.A.M.P. program!  Try it for free with other young athletes and see what it’s all about.

    Injury Prevention Clinic part 3

    On Monday, May 24th at 7:00, we will have part 3 of our series on Injury Prevention.  The focus of this clinic will be on the hands and joints.  Many climbers suffer from nagging tendon issues that stem from the amount of stress that we place on our hands/ joints.  The most common cause of this is over use and/or strain to the tendons and ligaments.

    Come meet with our knowledgeable personal trainers to learn how to prevent these common ailments from happening to you!

    There is no charge for this clinic and anyone may join.

    Moving Meditation Class Series

    This June, Movement’s yoga teacher, Mary-Laurence Bevington, will be teaching a Moving Meditation 4-part Class Series. There is NO CHARGE for Members, and Guests are invited to attend for just $40(for a total of 4 classes, and each includes a reduced day pass).

    This inspiring class series offers four practices: meditation, movement, breath, and sound. Center your mind through meditation and chanting, open your whole body through Hatha yoga postures, and cleanse and purify through pranayama (breath) practices. Mary-Laurence will also provide guidance for developing a daily practice routine. This class series is for adults with all levels of yoga and meditation experience.

    These classes will be held every Thursday in June from 4:30 – 5:30p. Priority will be given to those who can commit to all 4 classes.

    Starting this Saturday, May 1st, we have got some great new classes coming your way! BLAST CLASSES at Movement are quick, results-driven, high intensity classes. Try one at a time or a few in a row, since they are scheduled to fit a variety of time availabilities!

    BLAST ABS – BLAST STRENGTH – BLAST CARDIO

    Blast Abs: A 15 minute crunch session that is sure to get those abs burning! Only have 15 minutes? Come to Blast Abs and start building strength and definition in your abs!
    Monday 6:35 – 6:50 pm ~ Thursay 6:15 – 6:30 pm ~ Friday 11:35 – 11:50 am ~ Saturday 10:35 – 10:50 am

    Blast Strength: Come join us for this 30 minute strength workout. Class will include 2 – 3 sets of muscle building exercises using dumbbells, barbells, fit balls, the cable machine and everything else in the fitness room. This class is excellent for anyone interested in improving muscle tone and increasing their workout intensity and bone health.
    Tuesday 7:20 – 7:50 am ~ Wednesday 6:45 – 7:15 pm ~ Saturday 10:05 – 10:35 am

    Blast Cardio: A killer 30 minute cardio workout! If you hate to workout on your own, or just want to try something different, come check out this half an hour calorie blast! Efficient, fun, and guaranteed you’ll see results!

    On Monday, April 26th, Movement will host the second clinic of our THREE PART INJURY PREVENTION CLINIC SERIES that focuses on common climbing injuries and the best way to prevent them, so that you stay at your peak performance. There is NO CHARGE for these clinics, but sign up with the front desk is required.

    DID YOU KNOW? Climbing injuries have increased 63% from 1990 to 2007. The majority of non-fall related injuries are the result of improper technique and overuse of certain tendons and ligaments.

    aero yoga workshop

    THIS WEEKEND Movement is hosting the AERO YOGA WORKSHOP SERIES! On April 23rd and 24th, Emily Seymour and Yuki Tsuji-Hoening will be teaching the fundamentals of flying!

    Aero Yoga is a new, fun, and innovative practice that is guaranteed to provide a fresh perspective on yoga.
    FRIDAY FROM 5:30p – 7:30p: Friday Night Foundation
    SATURDAY FROM 12:30p – 2:30p: Moksa (Freedom) + Flying

    Cost is $15 per workshop for Members ($30 total) and $25 per workshop for non-Members ($50 total) (this includes a reduced day-pass).

    Friday Night Foundation – 5:30p – 7:30p
    A playful overview of Aero Yoga Fundamentals. We will build our flight skills through solo practice, partner yoga and introductory sling work. Open to anyone with a basic yoga practice who is willing to explore turning their world upside down. No partner required.
